Events Inspiration - MUV Talks Equality Matters
20 May 2017

As both event addicts and entrepreneurs we couldn’t help gate crashing the MUV Talks Equality Matters event in Auckland recently. It was our second MUV Talk event and was even better than the first. The events aim to "bring together people who want to be innovative, creative and make things happen.” Five things the MUV Talks team did really well were:

  1. The MUV format of ‘seven speakers for seven minutes each’ keeps the presentations punchy and means you learn a lot in a short time.
  2.  A special game of bingo helped people get to know each other – you filled your bingo card by finding someone in the room who had been scuba-diving, someone who had been to another tech-week event, a twin, someone in a marketing role.  You get the picture?
  3. Catering was made simple by their menu choice – Pizza.  It’s a fast way to feed a crowd and their choice of Toto Pizza made it mouth-watering.
  4. The sound deserves special mention.  All the speakers could be heard loud and strong – something most event managers know can be hard to achieve.
  5. The crowd didn’t want to leave, and about half an hour after finish time someone flicked the lights off for a few seconds.  Whether it was an accident or a subtle reminder that the event was over, we’re not sure, but the crowd did start making their way politely to the door.  Lesson learned.
